Last updated: March 19, 2026
1. Agreement to Terms
By accessing or using Redactorr ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and all applicable Australian laws and regulations. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the Service.
These Terms apply to all users of the Service, including visitors, registered users, and paying subscribers. Your continued use of the Service constitutes ongoing acceptance of any updates to these Terms.
2. Description of Service
Redactorr is a document redaction tool designed for professionals working with sensitive information. The Service:
- Detects and identifies sensitive information in documents using a local detection engine that runs entirely within your browser
- Replaces sensitive data with reversible placeholders before any content leaves your device
- Processes all document content locally on your machine. No original document data is transmitted to our servers
- Provides a web-based interface for managing redaction configurations, reviewing results, and accessing optional features
- Offers optional integration with third-party AI services, where only the already-redacted output is transmitted
The Service is intended for use by professionals in regulated industries including legal, medical, financial, and government sectors. You are responsible for ensuring the Service meets the specific compliance requirements of your organisation and jurisdiction.
3. User Accounts
3.1 Account Creation
You must create an account to access paid features. You agree to:
- Provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration
- Maintain the security of your account credentials and not share them with others
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorised access or security breach affecting your account
- Accept responsibility for all activity conducted under your account
- Not create accounts using automated methods or for purposes of abuse
3.2 Account Security
Authentication is managed through our authentication provider. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential. We will never ask for your password via email or chat.
3.3 Account Suspension and Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account if you:
- Violate these Terms
- Engage in fraudulent, deceptive, or abusive activity
- Interfere with the Service or other users
- Fail to pay applicable fees after reasonable notice
Where termination is due to a material breach, we will provide written notice where practicable. Upon termination, your right to access the Service ceases immediately.
4. Subscription and Payments
4.1 Plans and Pricing
Redactorr offers the following plans:
- Free: 5 documents per month and 1 AI session. No payment required.
- Paid plans: Current pricing, feature comparisons, and plan limits are available on our Pricing page. Pricing is displayed in Australian dollars (AUD) and is inclusive of GST where applicable.
Pricing is subject to change with 30 days notice via email or in-app notification. Plan changes that increase price do not take effect until the next billing cycle.
4.2 Billing
- Paid subscriptions are billed monthly or annually in advance, at the interval you select at checkout
- Payments are processed securely by our payment processor. We do not store your full card details
- Annual plans are charged as a single payment at the start of the billing cycle
- Failed payments may result in temporary suspension of paid features until the outstanding balance is resolved
- Tax invoices are available on request for Australian businesses
4.3 Cancellation and Refunds
You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings. Access to paid features continues until the end of your current billing period. No partial-period refunds are issued, except as required by the Australian Consumer Law.
If you believe you are entitled to a remedy under the Australian Consumer Law, please contact us at legal@redactorr.com.
5. Acceptable Use
You must use the Service in a lawful manner and in accordance with these Terms. You agree NOT to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of applicable laws and regulations
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract the source code or detection models of the Service
- Circumvent, disable, or interfere with usage limits, security measures, or access controls
- Share, sell, or transfer your account credentials to any third party
- Use the Service to process documents you do not have the legal right to handle
- Transmit malware, viruses, or any other malicious or harmful code
- Conduct automated scraping, bulk data extraction, or any activity that places excessive load on the Service
- Use the Service to facilitate identity theft, fraud, or other criminal activity
- Misrepresent the output of the Service as a certified legal or compliance review
6. Intellectual Property
6.1 Our Intellectual Property
Redactorr, including its software, detection engine, design, documentation, and brand, is owned by us and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Your subscription grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Service for your own lawful purposes.
6.2 Your Content
You retain all rights to your documents and the data within them. We do not claim any ownership over your content. Because all document processing happens locally in your browser, we never have access to your original documents or the sensitive data they contain.
6.3 Detection Technology
The Service uses a proprietary detection engine that runs entirely within your browser. The engine incorporates open-source components licensed under Apache 2.0 and MIT licences. All detection processing happens locally on your device. No document data is sent to our servers for analysis.
Full licence texts for open-source components are available upon request. Engine components are downloaded to and cached in your browser locally. They are never processed on our servers.
7. Data Handling and Privacy
7.1 Local Processing Commitment
Your original documents are processed exclusively on your device. They are never uploaded to our servers. This is a core design principle of the Service, not merely a policy choice.
7.2 Account and Billing Data
Account information (including your email address) is stored with our authentication provider. Billing information is stored with our payment processor. We retain only the minimum data required to manage your account.
7.3 Optional AI Features
When you use optional AI features, the already-redacted output (not your original document) may be transmitted to third-party AI providers via our hosting infrastructure. This is always opt-in and clearly disclosed at the point of use. All such transmissions use the sanitised version of your content.
7.4 Privacy Policy
Our Privacy Policy provides full details on what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). The Privacy Policy forms part of these Terms.
8. Third-Party Services
The Service integrates with the following third-party providers to deliver core functionality:
- Our authentication provider: manages account login and identity verification
- Our payment processor: handles subscription billing and payment security
- Our hosting provider: serves the web application interface
- Our content delivery network: delivers detection engine components to your browser
- Our database provider: stores account configuration and usage metadata
Each provider is contractually bound to handle data in accordance with applicable privacy laws. We evaluate providers for security and compliance before integration and review them periodically.
We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or practices of third-party services. Any disruption to a third-party service may temporarily affect the availability of the Service or certain features.
9. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.
Specifically, we do not warrant that:
- The Service will detect all sensitive data in all documents or contexts
- Redaction will be 100% accurate or complete in all cases
- The Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times
- The Service will satisfy all regulatory or compliance requirements applicable to your use case
- Third-party services integrated with the Service will remain available or unchanged
You are responsible for verifying that redacted documents meet your specific requirements before sharing or using them. The Service is a productivity tool, not a certified legal, compliance, or security assessment.
10. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, INCLUDING THE AUSTRALIAN CONSUMER LAW:
- We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service
- We are not liable for data loss, privacy breaches, or security incidents occurring on your device or network
- We are not liable for losses arising from your reliance on the Service output for legal, regulatory, or compliance purposes without independent verification
- Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising under or in connection with these Terms is limited to the fees you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any right or remedy, or any guarantee, warranty, or other term or condition implied or imposed by the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold us harmless from any claims, losses, damages, liabilities, and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from:
- Your use of the Service in breach of these Terms
- Your violation of any applicable law or regulation
- Your infringement of any third-party rights, including intellectual property or privacy rights
- Any unauthorised access to or use of the Service through your account
12. Termination
12.1 Termination by You
You may terminate your account at any time by cancelling your subscription and requesting account deletion via legal@redactorr.com. Access continues until the end of your current paid period.
12.2 Termination by Us
We may terminate or suspend access to the Service at any time for cause, including material breach of these Terms, fraudulent activity, or non-payment. Where reasonably practicable, we will provide advance notice. We may also discontinue the Service entirely, in which case we will provide at least 30 days notice and issue pro-rata refunds for any prepaid period.
12.3 Effect of Termination
Upon termination, your right to access and use the Service ceases. Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including intellectual property, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law) will continue to apply.
13. Changes to Terms
We may modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification at least 30 days before taking effect. Non-material changes (such as clarifications or updates to reflect new features) may take effect immediately with notice. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
14. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, including the Australian Consumer Law as set out in Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth) and the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
Any dispute arising from or in connection with these Terms will be referred in the first instance to good-faith negotiation between the parties. If a dispute cannot be resolved within 30 days, it will be submitted to the jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales, Australia.
Nothing in this clause prevents either party from seeking urgent interlocutory or injunctive relief from a court of competent jurisdiction.
15. Miscellaneous
- Entire Agreement: These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service and supersede all prior agreements.
- Severability: If any provision of these Terms is found invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary or severed, and the remaining provisions will continue in full force.
- Waiver: Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms does not constitute a waiver of that right or provision.
- Assignment: You may not assign or transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign our rights and obligations to a successor entity in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
- Force Majeure: We are not liable for any delay or failure to perform our obligations caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
- Language: These Terms are written in English. In the event of a conflict between an English version and any translated version, the English version prevails.
